Change pitch without changing tempo

Fit a backing track to your voice. KaraVoco adjusts pitch and tempo independently, so you can sing in a lower or higher key while keeping the original speed.

A player with semitone pitch control

Shift playback from −12 to +12 semitones. A value of 0 keeps the original pitch, −1 lowers it by one semitone, and +1 raises it. Start with a small adjustment and check the highest and lowest notes of the song. The same dialog includes a preserve-vocal-timbre option.

Slow down a song without changing pitch

Reduce the tempo to work through a difficult phrase, for example to 0.75×. Your selected pitch stays the same. Tempo ranges from 0.25× to 2×, with 1× representing the original speed. Sound quality depends on the source and how far you adjust it; extreme settings are especially useful for learning a passage.

Settings remembered for each track

KaraVoco saves pitch and tempo per track. When you move to the next song, it uses its own saved settings or the original settings if you have not changed them. A practice playlist can therefore contain backing tracks with different adjustments without requiring you to reset the controls each time.

Getting started

  1. Add your song and start playback.
  2. Open the pitch and tempo dialog from the player controls.
  3. Choose the semitone adjustment. Keep tempo at 1× or change it independently of pitch.

Frequently asked questions

Will lowering pitch slow the song down?

No. Pitch and tempo have separate controls. Leave tempo at 1× to keep the original speed.

Does this create a new audio file?

These are playback settings inside the player. They do not overwrite the original file or export a processed version of the song.
